Estonian Hydrogen Cluster is organizing a hybrid seminar

“Replacing Russian Gas to Hydrogen – When and How?

Following the recent developments in Ukraine, the impetus for a rapid clean energy transition has never been stronger. The latest European Hydrogen Backbone report presents an updated and accelerated EHB vision, now involving 31 energy infrastructure companies from 28 countries (https://gasforclimate2050.eu/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/EHB-A-European-hydrogen-infrastructure-vision-covering-28-countries.pdf). The seminar will discuss the regional perspective of scaling up energy production in the off-shore wind parks of the Baltic States and increasing the energy independence and security in the whole Europe.

11:05-11:20     Enn Lust (University of Tartu) – “Hydrogen technologies development in Estonia”

11:20-11:35     Thorsten Herbert (NEL ASA) – “Green hydrogen approaching fossil parity – game-changer across applications and markets”

11:35-11:50     Marek Strandberg (Postimees Group)  – “Have wind turbine been invented once and for all by today?

11:50-12:05     Terje Talv (Estonian Wind Energy Association) –Estonian offshore wind farms today and in the next decade”

12:05-12:20     Rainer Saks  (CybExer Technologies) “Energy security of the Baltic region as a part of national security of Estonia”

12:20-12:35    Kaja Tael (Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs) – “Hydrogen in our minds. Position in the energy portfolio, perhaps comparatively in the Baltic Sea region”

12:35:12:50     Coffee/tea

12:50-14:00   Panel session:  Presentation of the latest European Hydrogen Backbone Vision document by Rik van Rossum (Guidehouse) to be followed by the presentations of the regional TSO-s from Estonia (Siim Iimre, Elering) and Norway (Richard Markeson, Gassco).

The participants in the panel: Rik van Rossum (Guidehouse), Siim Iimre (Elering), Richard Markeson (Gassco), Enn Lust (University of Tartu), Priit Kotkas (Estonian Hydrogen Cluster). The panel session will be moderated by Sven Parkel.
